A Little Croop

Can you believe that I would stoop

To write a verse about the croop
That in my throat and chest dwells
Making me feel a bit unwell?
Perhaps this is what they mean
When the words “Writer’s block” are seen –
That we have to resort to things
To which even lightverse cannot bring
A pleasanter feel or a soft sound
No matter how nicely it’s penned down
Because congestion in the chest and head
Is something better kept in bed
Rather than displayed on a web page
Or attempting with poetry to engage
